National Careers Week

National Careers Week is a reminder that a career isn’t just a job title it’s a journey. It’s about direction, growth, and the opportunities we create along the way.

We know from experience, and from the research, that people thrive when they can see what’s possible for them next. As leadership expert John C. Maxwell famously said, “Growth is the great separator between those who succeed and those who do not.” Progression rarely happens by chance; it needs the right environment, the right challenges, and the right support.

At RHG, development isn’t treated as an add-on to our apprenticeships it’s built into everything we do. We encourage learners to think about their next step, where they want to go, the skills they’ll need, and how their apprenticeship can be a genuine springboard for what comes next.

To support this, we offer free GROW Academy workshops, accessible to both our learners and the wider community. These sessions help individuals strengthen essential skills, build confidence, and take purposeful steps toward their progression. Alongside this, our Professional Development and Welfare Programme provides tailored guidance for learners who are new to the world of work or transitioning from education into employment, helping them build confidence, stability, and the skills needed to thrive in their early careers.

Our commitment to development is reflected in our B Corp certification, which holds us accountable not just for the programme outcomes, but for the positive impact we create for learners, employers, and communities. It reinforces our belief that careers should grow in environments where people feel valued, supported, and able to thrive. These are the principles we build into every apprenticeship we deliver, because when people grow, organisations grow and so do the communities around them.

Career theorist, Donald Super, talked about careers as an ongoing process of becoming, not just achieving; something we see every day. Apprentices don’t just gain knowledge; they develop confidence, strengthen their professional identity, and begin to recognise their own potential.

We’ve watched learners step into promotions, take on broader responsibilities, and grow into leadership roles not only because they completed a programme, but because they built the belief that they were ready for more.

This National Careers Week, we’ll be spotlighting learners who have used their apprenticeship as a catalyst for progression. Careers shouldn’t stand still and neither should we.

Our B Corp certification brings this commitment to life. It shows that we’re dedicated to putting people, purpose, and genuine progression at the heart of everything we do. As we celebrate National Careers Week, we’re proud to champion an approach to learning and development that puts individuals first and uses business as a force for good.
