Today marks World Sustainable Transport Day, a global initiative aimed at promoting the adoption of greener, more efficient transportation options to help protect our environment. RHG is committed to sustainability; we are proud to celebrate this important day and highlight how we can all contribute to a cleaner, healthier future through smarter transport choices.
In the UK, transportation accounts for around a third of the nation’s greenhouse gas emissions, with cars and trucks being the largest contributors. But the good news is that we have the power to make a real difference. Sustainable transport is not just about reducing emissions, it’s also about creating more liveable cities, reducing traffic congestion, and improving public health.
At RHG not only do we encourage sustainable transport but also limiting our use of all transport. Our staff work from home and our training is delivered virtually. One of the most significant benefits of virtual learning is the reduction in carbon emissions as both our learners and learning coaches can significantly reduce their travel-related emissions, helping to lower the overall carbon footprint of the education sector.
As a Certified B CorporationTM RHG, recognises the flexibility and sustainability of virtual learning in supporting a more inclusive and accessible learning environment. By eliminating geographical and logistical barriers, online learning allows people in remote or underserved areas to access RHG’s quality learning without the need for long-distance travel. This inclusivity aligns with the principles of The Green Economy and to RHG’s vision of ‘being a leader in sustainable and ethical training and development, empowering individuals and organisations to thrive while contributing positively to society and the environment.’
On World Sustainable Transport Day, we encourage everyone to think about how they can make greener travel choices. Whether it’s using public transport, cycling, walking or even learning remotely, the small choices we make today will have a big impact on our and the future generation’s quality of life.
