Improvement Specialist

Improvement Specialists use a blend of Lean and Six Sigma, project and change management principles and tools to identify and lead the delivery of change across organisational functions and processes.

Improvement Specialists can be found across all sectors and functions including automotive, banking, engineering, food products, IT, property, retail, telecoms etc.

Typically, Specialists lead larger programmes – tackling issues that may require swift problem solving, or re-occurring challenges that require in-depth analysis and the implementation of a range of effective and sustainable countermeasures. They are the focal point for all stakeholders and responsible for communication throughout a project.

There are a variety of job titles associated with the occupation, these include, but are not limited to: Business Improvement Specialist, Continuous Improvement Manager, Process Excellence Manager, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt and Quality Control Senior Analyst.

What topics will you cover?

  • Identifying potential opportunities, diagnosing issues, proposing solutions and implementing changes and controls
  • Working in accordance with organisational controls and statutory regulations
  • Selecting and applying the appropriate graphical tool dependent on the data type to identify patterns, trends and signals
  • Planning designed experiments with clear objectives, and appropriate levels of controls and measurement
  • Coaching teams and sharing best practice

14-18 Months Funding Band 12£9000

Apprentices without level 2 English and maths will need to achieve this level prior to taking the End-Point Assessment. For those with an education, health and care plan or a legacy statement, the apprenticeship’s English and maths minimum requirement is Entry Level 3. A British Sign Language (BSL) qualification is an alternative to the English qualification for those whose primary language is BSL. Apprentices will need to have access to Minitab or similar data analytics software or spreadsheets.

A case study multiple choice exam and a professional discussion supported by a portfolio of evidence. The portfolio of evidence must include a recording of a teaching session.
