Welcome to our April Calendar, the clocks have sprung forward and Easter is almost with us – how many of the 500 million Cadbury Creme Eggs produced will you be eating?

While you contemplate that thought, why not have a read through our April calendar of key dates, useful information and maybe discover one of two things you didn’t know?

Let’s start by asking do you know what ‘Maundy Thursday’ is?

Maundy Thursday is the Thursday before Easter. Christians remember it as the day of the Last Supper, when Jesus washed the feet of his disciples.

Celebrations in the United Kingdom today, involve the Monarch offering “alms” to deserving senior citizens – one man and one woman for each year of the sovereign’s age. These coins, known as Maundy money or Royal Maundy, are a custom dating back to King Edward I (1239-1307).  

During the Covid-19 pandemic the service has not taken place with the coins being posted instead but learn more by watching Queen Elizabeth’s very first Maundy service as our reigning Monarch.
