December 2024
Whatever your take on Christmas, there is no denying once December starts, we are well on the way to the holidays. Excitement and stress levels can rise in equal measure so why not take a walk in the great outdoors with friends or family and restore some calm.
The Ramblers’ Association are coming up to their 90th Anniversary, so they should know a thing or two about walking in Winter. Indeed, they have a list of the best walks in nature, alongside the best Christmas Market walks – there is literally something for everyone, so as they celebrate their Festival of Walking, why not go and have an explore of their website to find out more tips and ideas – Festival of Winter Walking – Ramblers
It’s also a good time to take stock on what you have achieved over the last twelve months, what you would have done differently and the goals you want to set for yourself in the year ahead. And don’t forget to dig out your Christmas jumper for Christmas Jumper Day on the 12th of the month – *tip: there is a fabulous little video in the calendar below.
However you choose to spend the holidays, everyone at RHG wishes you a happy and healthy Christmas and a peaceful New Year.
GROW Academy workshops will start again in the New Year – Virtual Workshops – RHG (rhgconsult.co.uk)

Finally, here are some more observances and their meanings:
| Hanukkah | 25th December to 2nd January | Hanukkah, otherwise known as Chanukah, is an eight-day festival of lights and a hugely joyous occasion for Jewish people worldwide. |
| Christmas Day | 25th | It traditionally celebrates Jesus Christ’s birth but many aspects of this holiday have pagan origins. |
| Boxing Day | 26th | The 26th is commonly known as Boxing Day, which takes its name from the practice of giving small gifts to household servants on that day for their work throughout the year |
| Hogmanay /New Year’s Eve | 31st | The singing of “Auld Lang Syne” is now a worldwide custom, originated during Hogmanay. Another notable traditions includes “first footing.” This predicts good luck and prosperity if the first visitor to one’s house after midnight is a tall, dark-haired man bearing a ceremonial gift, such as coal or salt. |
