Diversity, Wellbeing & Environment Calendar

The month kicks off with the May Day bank holiday on the 5th and ends with the Spring bank holiday on the 26th. In between there is quite a lot going on and we have chosen a selection of dates for you to read about and investigate further.

Thursday 8th May marks the 80th anniversary of VE Day, a day of celebration to mark the Allied victory in Europe. You may have surviving relatives, family friends, etc., who remember the day itself. Imagine a world without the internet, no phones, not even television. Everyone had to gather around radios to hear the news – follow the link and listen to the short recording of a BBC reporter working that day. Listen to the end, its almost unbelievable! VE Day

May also marks National Walking Month – a chance to get into the nature. You’ll find lots of ideas and inspiration on the Ramblers Association website – National Walking Month – Ramblers

Infact, with Mental Health Awareness Week also running this month, from the 12th to 18th, and a theme of ‘Community’, you’ll see below that Get Outdoors is near the top of their list of things to do with others.

Here at RHG we’re having a collaborative board of images to share on our staff intranet; encouraging and inspiring all the staff to get outdoors and get walking. So what will you do?

There are some other key dates for you to explore below.
